Hannah Waddingham

 

Hannah Waddingham is an Olivier Award and Golden Globe nominated British actor and singer, known for her contribution to West End musical theatre as well as the TV series Game of Thrones and Ted Lasso.

Born in Wandsworth, London, she grew up around the musical theatre. Both of her maternal grandparents were opera singers and her mother, Melodie Kelly, sang with the English National Opera. Hannah has a four-octave vocal range and studied at the Academy of Live and Recorded Arts in South London.

She has had a long and distinguished career in musical theatre, including three nominations for Best Actress in a Musical at London’s Olivier Awards: in 2007 for Spamalot, in 2010 for A Little Night Music and in 2013 for Kiss Me, Kate.

Her film and TV credits include The Fall Guy, How to Lose Friends and Alienate PeopleLes Miserables, Winter Ridge, Hocus Pocus 212 Monkeys, Midsomer Murders, Benidorm, and a recurring role in the Netflix series, Sex Education.

In 2015, Hannah joined the cast of the fifth season of the HBO series Game of Thrones as Septa Unella, and in 2020 she began starring in the Apple TV+ comedy series Ted Lasso where she plays football team owner Rebecca Welton, for which she has won numerous awards including a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 2021Critics’ Choice Awards in both 2021 and 2022, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, and a Hollywood Critics Association Award.
