Congratulations to Fabian Aloise for winning the Gillian Lynne Award for Best Theatre Choreographer at the 2026 Olivier Awards held at the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday for his work on the Jamie Lloyd directed revival of Evita at the London Palladium.

Dame Arlene Phillips presented this year’s award to Fabian, who won this year’s choreography award ahead of stellar nominees Ellen Kane for Paddington The Musical at the Savoy Theatre, Drew McOnie for Brigadoon at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre and Lynne Page for American Psycho at the Almeida Theatre.

Fabian’s success was mirrored by Rachel Zegler as she won the coveted Olivier award for Best Actress in a Musical for her role as Evita.

Evita is a sung-through musical with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice, staged originally in London in 1978, and chronicles the meteoric rise, political influence, and ultimate death of Eva Peron, the wife of Argentine president Juan Perón. Set in Argentina between 1934 and 1952 it follows Eva's journey from a poor, ambitious young girl to an actress, and finally to the most powerful woman in Latin America, affectionately known as 'Evita'.

Foundation trustees and supporters - including Peter Land, Luke Rittner, Robert Meadmore and Karen Diprose - attended the Awards and celebrated the Best Theatre Choreographer Award named in honour of Gillian Lynne.
