J.R.Ballantyne announced as first recipient of Foundation Award
July 2019
The Foundation has awarded its first scholarship to ArtsEd student, J.R. Ballantyne, who will complete his degree course and graduate this summer.
Ballantyne’s first professional job and West End debut is in the revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat at the London Palladium. Credits whilst training include Henry and Dance Captain in Disney’s Newsies and Christopher Belling in Curtains, and has since been cast in the forthcoming UK tour of Curtains, starring Jason Manford.
Ballantyne, who is from New Zealand, said the funding from the Lynne and Land Foundation has allowed him to complete his training, attain a work visa in the UK and land his first job.
Peter Land said: “J.R. is the perfect first recipient. With the Foundation’s financial intervention, he was able to graduate and land his first job in the West End in Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at The London Palladium. He is talented in all the areas that Gillie loved to foster: dancing, acting and singing. He also plays a mean piano.”
