Sir Luke Rittner
Luke Rittner brings vast experience to the Foundation from his many roles within the Arts world. He was Chief Executive of the Royal Academy of Dance from 1999 to April 2022. Previously he was Secretary General of the Arts Council of Great Britain, Communications Director for Sotheby’s Europe, and in earlier years ran the Bath Festival. Luke was also Founder-Director of the Association for Business Sponsorship of the Arts (Arts & Business).
Luke has served on many arts boards, including the Victoria & Albert Museum and the British Council. He was a non-executive Director of Carlton Television and was also Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA). Luke holds an Honorary Doctorate of the Arts from the University of Bath and an Honorary Doctorate of Civil Law from the University of Durham. He is a governor of The Royal Ballet and a trustee of the New English Ballet Theatre.
In 2023 Luke was awarded a Knighthood in the first New Year Honours List issued by His Majesty The King. Luke received a CBE in 2017 for services to the arts, particularly dance.
